Northview Preschool Program

Derek and all of his classmates put on a musical program for their families.  He did a great job and knew all of the songs!  At one point I questioned what kind of school he was in when the pastor gave an opening prayer and thanked God for the love he shows us that’s “almost a scandalous kind of love.”  What in the world?!March 2013 041

So Much Talent

Both of my kids have been scheming ideas for the school talent show for months.  Carter sang and danced to Michael Jackson’s Beat It.  Garth and I made him recruit a couple of back up dancers because we were a little unsure if he could pull it off alone.  Turns out, it may have been better as a solo!  Carter was thrilled when he saw this article in the local Outpost.

Sydney and her friend Carly did a cheer (Yell out your colors Lakers!  Yellow and Blue) then danced to Party in the USA.

Sydney also submitted this pot holder she wove to the art exhibit.

Easter 2013

March 2013 056

This year we went up to pancakes with the Easter Bunny at the 5 mile grange.  Our lucky Olivia won a basket of stuff in the drawing (she was the only one to win at Christmas too!)

Then we decorated Easter Eggs.  The kids are finally at the age that I can enjoy this a little and they came up with some cool eggs!

Then there was a very sunny Sunday dinner at my Mom’s!  They all tried so hard to open their eyes for the picture :)

Sydney’s Baptism

A girl in my ward took some cute pictures of Sydney (on a freezing cold day) at Bowl and Pitcher.  Then my amazing friend Julie turned one into this adorable invitation to send to friends and family.

Kacey Baptism final

Her baptism was wonderful!  She had so much family there to support her: all of her aunts and uncles, two sets of grandparents and five great-grandparents!!! Grandpa Doug spoke, all of the cousins sang “I am a Child of God,” Sydney recited the 4th article of faith and shared what it means, Bishop Hardy welcomed her and had Garth and I share very teary testimonies to Sydney.  It was a perfect evening and hopefully one she will always remember.

It’s hard to get this little dancer to pose normal for a picture :)

Garth bought Sydney these white gold and aquamarine earrings (her birthstone).  I thought he was a little crazy to buy something that nice for an 8 year old, but she takes very good care of them and it was a special moment with Dad.

As a side note, I made these amazing caramel apples for treats afterward.  Dipped in caramel, then white chocolate, then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.  Then you slice them with an apple slicer to get the perfect ratio of apple to sweetness!
